Unhappy Ode to a XP, by Christopher E. Jeffrey

I will always miss you, my little cpu, yes I will.
Your speed and abilities saved me from my foes, like {BL}Trigger,
[BL]GARDELL and the dread [BL]Scorpius.....he hath a sting.
Your organic substrate filled me with joy, took me back to the time when I was a boy, OH how my heart yearns for all 1467 clock cycles per second.......
Although you are in AMD heaven, I know you are watching, waiting for me to frag friends and strangers...smiling.
The end.

With the heat an AMD puts out... you sure it didn't go the other direction (j/k) Seriously... what happened... did it just up and die?

I put it in the mobo and set a PAL6035 (yes with artic silva) or whatever it is called on it and fired it up. Got to the point in bios where I type in my pass and it hung. Restarted it and nada. Oh well, 2yrs left on the warranty. And yeah, the heat thing makes you wonder just wich direction....
Tried it in every mobo save one, scrubbed it shiny clean(hey, no core chips!!) and it seems lost. Thats just the way it goes.

Tried it in my biostar, last board I have. It is dead. Sure looks nice tho... Too bad AMD will want it for a new one. I have some nice paperweights. Thanks for the flowers, you guys....

HI Blakhart,

Returning dead AMDs was a topic in another thread. Let me know how getting another one works out, OK?

Thanks,

Death in all cases is a tragedy

for if it isn't, then it means Life itself has become one.

A few hours, my dead 1700, and $30 dollars at DIT (who sold me the 1700) netted me a new XP1800 with 3 year warranty. They even let me keep my old hsf and gave me the new one. A pretty good bunch of folks.
See how things work out?

DIT is www.ditcorp.com and the $30 was the diff in price as they had no 1700s to rma.

Ahhh, another of the enemy has been killed Heh, sucks for you though, gotta wait for a few weeks, right?

They should make a socket A to socket 478 adapter, so all you lost souls can join the right side, right? (j/k).

Heh heh pretty good. I think a P4 would still be here in the same circumstances. I want one.

No waiting, I walked out of there with a 1800, and it is running now. It benches (drum roll) 319.4/776.4 in pttest. Yay!
