graphics card problems

Hey guys,
Maybe you can help. I just built a new system with a soyo dragon + mobo and I used AMD 1800+ xp processor. I used a Gainward GeForce3 Ti200. I try to play games and the video sucks worse than my old crappy system. It has less clarity and the color is sort of dark. I am using a Dell flat screen this time. Any ideas?

Flat screen? Do you mean an LCD or an CRT with flat screen monitor?

My OS is XP Home. I just junked the LCD and went out and picked up a 17" KDR Flat Screen CRT. It looks a little better. There are soooooo many adustments on the Graphics card I am not sure what to adjust next. I am not sure to even tell if I am getting all the benefits. I do now that when I played quake II on my old crappy AMD 300 mhz with a prehistoric graphics card, the colors seemed better when online gaming. What should I do next?

I have had the same probs trying to get q3 going on a very similar install. I have seen tricks to get it to play nice on the xp os. Never got any good from them. Sooooo, I have not messed with q3 in a while. Hope someone who has had the same funny dark video can help us both. Everything else plays fine, cept for the 60 Hz refresh. Can't get the refresh rate fix to fix!

So how do I know if everything is working right on my video card? What is a good resource for learning how to adjust, etc?

I am not even sure what resolution to be running my system and if that even makes a difference. The card has some adjustments with the resolution and something with different hertz, like 60, etc. What's all this?
