Unable to run the game
I am unable to run a game ( pacific warriors demo ) on my new pentium 4 ( 128 RAM) machine. It reports as below.
"Could not init 3D Engine in hardware mode 640 x 480 16 bit Could not init 3D Engine in hardware mode 640 x 480 32 bit Could not set up mode 640 x 480 24 bit No suitable screen mode" My current display setings are 800 x 640 on High color 16 bit mode. Adaptor is S3 Graphics ProSavage DDR. |

Hi,
have you tried to update the graphic drivers ? Also the S3 is as far as I know not a powerful 3D chip, so it's possible that you can't init 3D Engine in hardware mode. Software mode should do fine (there should be an option in the game for this). RJ

From one of the CD's that come with MotherBoard. I was informed by the dealer that current Motherboard being VIA chipset based, 8.1 will not work. In his opinion only Intel chipset based motherboard works fine with DirectX 8.1 .

Two friends of mine have VIA boards and are running DirectX 8.1, no problem (one has WinXP, the other WinME).
But well, if it now works, it works. If it ain't broke, don't fix it ![]() RJ |
