Low, low framerates on CS after reformat
Need advice on tweaking my GeForce 256 card. Before I reformatted last week, it worked fine on Counter-Strike. I can't remember the website on tweaking that I used.
Any links or articles here? Thanks.

3Dguru? What about 3DMark? There are loads of sites to get tuning tricks from. Look around. A common tool to use in these cases is GTU, and can be found at 3dguru...or is it guru3D?
You will find them. Plus, if you have your refresh rate set to default, and you have the card set to synch every frame, you might want to up the refresh to say 75-85. Do not go too hi as the card may get winded.

Also, set it to 16 bit color as opposed to 32. 800x600 is a good compromise between performance and quality. Make sure that anisotropic filter and FSAA(full screen anti aliasing) is off. These really slow down a gf2. Well, they slow all of them down, even Wolfies' gf4...heh.....
You might try fastmipmap on, but if the game looks "jerky" after that, turn mipmap off. All of these settings will be in gf2 properties. Drill down till ya find em. Then......... go into the game's video settings and muck around there to get the fastest you want. cu Can't believe I did not mention the easy stuff first. |

Try to figure out what set of drivers you were using before. They can make a huge difference. And newest isn't always bestest, lol. My ATI radeon got better numbers in 3dmark with one set of drivers, but CS looked awful, so I went down in 3dmark to go up in CS. Cause CS rules!

I've used RivaTuner to put the 60hz fix, then with rivatuner again, I went into opengl settings, and disabled vsync. I've passed from 60fps to 100fps
(I've got a GeForce2 GTS)
