TV CARD question
i have simple tv card (Brooktree 848 capture device driver)
it is connected troung the tv cable. the image is very good and i can receive all channels (using TVview). The problem is that the sound is very silent. i've tried all sound connectors. and always very silent. I havent been able to try the internal sound cables yet, i need to get the cables first. Can anyone tell me what the most logical solutions might be ? -i recal that on my friends tvcard there was a separate audio driver to, but i cant see it on my pc. Do i need an audio driver installed or will connecting the internal sound (to my soundcard) give better results? Also a little other question. i have an amd duron 800 elite ecs mainboard about year old with on board sound. Can i place a simple creative soundcard in a pci slot or do i need to disable the on board sound first ( i believe theres an option in the bios for that right?) or do thety work together? |

On my tv card I use the external sound wire from the tv card (sound output) jack to the Sound card (Sound input jack).
Check your sound card properties, you may have something muted or turned down. Check all the volume controls are turned up. Secondly check the external wire from the tvcard to the sound card make sure they are plugged into the proper ports, check the wire itself. Make sure your speakers are plugged into the sound card properly and turned up. Yes, you have to disable onboard sound in the bios to install that sound card on that ECS board. |

I have the ATI TV Ve card and it too has a jumper from the TV card to the sound card. Exactly which card do you have?

wow thanx for the quick responses
i dont really know what brand the card is, i got it second hand and on the manual nothing but 'pc-tv (pal)' is mentioned i only have the chipset info (BT848)and the drivers that i got together with 'TVview' from a friend. (the drivers were in a subfolder of the program. i also tried downloaded drivers from Brooktree, but the didnt give any response to the tvview. i checked all the volume levels from my onboard sound card, and all seems correct. I currently have the speakers (target speakers with amp. inside one speaker) inserted directly in the sound out of my tvcard because i dont have the correct cable and shops are closed till monday. Will an internal cable from tv to sound and then to speakers solve my problem?(get the sound a lot up) Also on a friends tvcard (dont know what brand , cost about 70 euro) he has 2 different drivers, one for video capture and one for audio capture. i only have bt848 video capture. can this be the problem or is the audio capture only for an fm tuner, (which my card doesnt have) again thanx for all the help so far |

Yes,you are missing the bt848 audio driver you should be able to download it at http://www.Ati.com
I never used an internal cable for the tv card so I can't really comment on that issue, actually I do not think this option is available with this tv card. |
