Diablo+D2 (not true rpgs, more like dungeon siege I guess, but BETTER!)
Baldurs Gate Series (True PC rpgs in their finest form) Fallout 1+2 (furturistic approach) Neverwinte Nights (new, don't know much about it)

Icewind Dale I, IWD 2 comes out in a month or so. Similar to Baldur's Gate.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Make sure you have at least 1Ghz, 256megs of RAM and a 64meg or better video card. The game needs power but its worth it.

Please DONT get Dungeon Siege, it's not a true rpg, it's a mindless game where you just run along on a path killing mosters. Don't spend your money on it.
These are good RPGs below: Icewind Dale Baldur's Gate II Neverwinter Nights Arcanum above are RPGs wehre you look at your character above. These are First Person RPGs System Shock 2 (kinda old) Deus Ex Morrowind That's about it.

My vote goes to:
Baldur's Gate series (Outstanding true RPGs) Deus Ex Fallout series To my liking, the Diablo series are not true RPGs, just hack and slash, and the quests are repetitive (it's all about killing a monster, fetching an item from it and returning to the NPC for your reward; but it's always kill, kill and kill; and I think that an RPG must have quests that can be solved by non-violence means). Was playing a lil' with Dungeon Siege and I was amazed by the beautiful graphics and the huge gameworld, but was also disappointed b/c there was almost no RPG elements: very few dialogues, very few NPCs other than the monsters. It was too lineal for me.

No, you don't need internet connection to play Morrowind. There is not even a multiplayer mode in it. It would be nice to be connected to the net so you can download updates.

Alright. Thanks for all the good advice. that will keep me going for awhile considering i dont have a lot of money to buy all the games right away. It looks like that Baulders Gate is getting the first crack at my money. I will let you know how i like it. Thanks again all.

Go here to learn about some aspects of the game. They have great forums if you have any problems.
http://www.planetbaldursgate.com/bg2/ My friends and I have found that a fighter/mage is a powerful character. Try that for starters. |

Baldur's Gate 2 is a great game. It took me a year to finish. From the start of the game be aware that you can find the parts of the strongest two handed sword in the game called Equilizer. That's why you should always thoroughly search the rooms you're visiting and always check the remains of the bigger enemies. I think you need 3 or 4 parts. The handle, the blade, and something else. Once you think you have all 4 parts go to the dwarf smith Cromwell in the city somewhere, he will forge them into a sword. I myself didn't find all the parts. Also remember that whenever someone says "you have to hurry up" you don't really. Don't neglect minor quests, as they may lead to very powerful items and give you experience points.

Yes, follow Calmius' advice. Tip: if you want your brother's sword (it's not too good, but in the start game it can be pretty useful), be sure to aid the djinn by retrieving an elemental statue from one of the rooms. Be sure to do this before you leave the dungeon for the surface or the item will be lost forever.
Another very good place to get tons of info and spoilers is the gamebanshee web site. They have great forums too, and the walkthroughs are comprehensive. I'm submitting the url. http://www.gamebanshee.com/baldursgateii/ |

Well, I was playing it from time to time, but this game really is considered to be one of the most lentghy. It will take you at least 150 hours to finish it due to very large number of quests. But trust me it's very adddicting and the locations you visit are very fun.

Yes, I agree about Fallout 1 and 2. They are my favorite RPGs for the computer (Ive really only played the first Baldurs Gate). There cheap to, I got Fallout 1 and 2 bundled together at Walmart for 9.99. I usually stay away from computer RPG's becuase im used to the console RPGS, i just use the computer to those great Strategy games.

Hahah, I am currently playing Final Fantasy VIII. Old game, but the graphics are still decent; no on-line options. I don't like any of the other FF games, all of the characters are too childish. In FFVIII all of the characters are very mature, and well developed.
Again, it's and old game, but I just got it working about 2 weeks ago, so it's new to me! Just wish they'd make another FF with mature characters...
