Playing counter-strike and GO I wonder...How do clans have thier own server? Do they rent a server? Do they set it up themselves? How? I hope someone can help. Thanks

Most clans rent dedictaed servers with fast connections. However, if someone in the clan has access to a fast line (fast cable or T1 type) and a good server system then they set it up themselves.

You'd be surprised at how many servers are on stolen bandwidth. Most of the ones I've played on are run on some university or corporate network, run by an employee with enough access to set something up and not get caught
.There are rental companies out there, the best I've dealt with being http://www.clanservers.net Most rentals are oversold to the point that the game is unplayable however. |

One of my clan members has a personal T1 actually, and he hosts both my clan and another clans servers. We all get decent pings and he runs them of RH linux.
