i dl it and starting the basic training. there is a forums on the main page of americasarmy.com if you need help for anything.
will play somemore this weekend. its a big file 202 mb so if you dont have broadband, nvidia has the file broken down into mini files and a separate installer.

About nvidia's download pieces, there is an eleventh one not listed. look at the url in the left bottom corner when you go to download a piece, change the end to army.11 instead of what it says to get the final one. It is really this last one that's 13.5 MB. I got this clue because you'll notice the parts don't add up to 202 MB. Just thought i'd post this for those that have spent time downloading already. Oops, Nvidia.

I'm training now, can't even get up this wall and down a net without the guy yelling, "That' not the army way." It's in the beginning of obstacle course.

I downloaded it from file planet at 1 am July 4th. I just coudnt wait. I qualifyed in marksmanship and passed basic training. The problem is that since the game is online, the servers are always full. I guess Ill just keep waiting......

Texaspete, make sure you go through the white stakes, if you go through the other colored ones, the instructor yells at you.

I downloaded the game last night and man oh man, does it ever play horrible on my computer. Another reason for me to upgrade out of a p3 600 with 8mb TNT2 video. The game looked okay though, as long as I didn't move my mouse

Gabe, unless you wanted to get a new mobo and cpu, a vid card upgrade would set you right up. Gf3's are way cheap right now.
Plus about 256 megs ram or thereaboots. If you are using xp, you need a refresh rate fix to run games at a good frame rate.

The 8 meg vid card will be the prob.

Blakhart, I know my vid card is at fault, I just don't feel like buying a new one yet. Besides for that, I thought it would be a funny post

Holy $*#@, my new build has already been pushed by a "free" video game? Time to upgrade

I'm a RTCW faithful. Is this game THAT much better? Remember MOHAA? Dissapointment!

Holy crap - that's ridiculous. I meet minimums - barely!

Tim: sorry, no workaround. Your download is corrupted.

That seems so ridiculous for recommended requirements... my new build is RIGHT at the recommended requirements except for the RAM, and this is only a few months old. I don't get it, Warcraft III has better graphics AND has much lower requirements*. I guess that's what you get when it's a government operation, eh?

Also, it's sort of only a beta version (notice how you only get basic training) so they haven't optimized it at all, hopefully. Most 3D beta versions have much higher requirements than the final versions.

*Warcraft III Recommended Specs:

600Mhz CPU
32MB 3D accelerator w/ OpenGL support
256MB RAM

Its not like a 16 makes balls of fire or anything. Well, not in daylight with a 20 inch bbl. So if a 16 has no real muzzle flash, why are the reqs so high? I could see it if it had lasers and other starwars grafix gimmics. I can't figure out why the game is so resource intensive. And looking at the screen shots I see the A2 flash suppressor is octagonal, not round as in actuality. This means they are cutting vid driver corners to get speed, or to save time in production. The handguards too are octagonal. The grafix should be better than this.
This should play on any p2 350 and tnt2 vid card. Why not?

Cause it's a government funded operation, everything is ten times the cost and one-fourth as effecient.

well, it downloaded (took 40 mins. this time- but then again, it wasn't corrupted either ) and installed and my puny system even can work with it during boot camp.
We'll see when it comes to multiplayer....
