GTA III and video problems

Just formatted my HD and installed winXP pro and transferred my GTA III saved files. When GTA starts up, the words in yellow are shown as yellow boxes and unreadable. The mouse pointer also shows a black square that follows the pointer. The words to select "options" or "start game" or "quit", are basically unreadable. It appears to be some video glitch or setting. I have directx8.1 which is standard to XP, latest patch to GTA installed. I also have the current NVIDIA driver off their website.

I had this prob when I played this game initially before formatting my HD, but it was more of a darkness during game problem, which I don't know if it's occuring because I have to navigate through the menus without the words. That time, I enabled fog table emulation and it worked. Now, it's enabled and the prob is still here. Suggestions?

Give me a min to find the link but there is a file you need to download to fix the problem. I had the same problem and this fixed it!

Well here is the link. You can thank KTS for this one he found it for me a while ago. It doesn't look like it is the thing you need from the site, but believe me it is.

Thanks a bunch! Everything works fine now! The funny thing was that when it started, the words were in spanish. Lucky it was easy to understand the menus and change it.
