gif / jpeg images

I have a program webcatalog builder. I keep down loading images. I also take pictures with my digial . When I try to upload those images it will not recogniize them. I beleive its because its a JPEG image. The images that it recognizes are GIF images only.
what can I do.

The simplest thing to convert JPEGs to GIFs would be to open the JPEG in MSPaint. Then just go to "Save as" and change the file type to .gif.

Irfanview is good for converting files to other formats too.

Converting pictures taken with digital camera to GIF isn't a good idea, JPG is much better for photos, I recommend you to look for an update that supports JPG, if not try another program.

Yes,

IrfanView is a great, little free program. Quick and easy to use. It's my default program for viewing, cropping, and converting file formats.

Although I have PSP, I tend to use Irfanview for little jobs all the time.

That's pretty much the same as just renaming the file. I agree with aym though, if you're taking pictures you're going to lose the quality if you convert to gif. What does this program you're using do? Maybe there is an alternative.

Its not renaming the file. It saves the image as a GIF rather then a JPEG. It would reduce image quality but it would allow the pictures to work with his ftp program.

Renaming the file won't change the file's actual format, you need to use a program to change the format from JPEG to GIF.

To change image format using MSPaint, in the save as dialog box, under the text field where you type the new file name, there is a combobox, select GIF in this combobox, and save the image, the new image format will be GIF.
IrfanView is much better for changing image formats though, and it's free.
