unreal tourny/quake 3 woes
good day eh
i just installed a geforce 2 gts-v video card in my roommates computer, the $47 card from newegg precisely. he has an abit bx-133 raid mobo with a celeron 766, 64 megs of RAM, and an old ESS isa sound card. It also has directx 8.0 installed and passes the tests in dxdiag the problems he's having is really choppy performance in quake 3, and unreal tournament won't load at all, even in software rendering or safe mode with all the options turned off. i've also tried futzing with the hardware accelerator slider under display>settings>advanced>performance to no avail if anybody has any quick suggestins i'd appreciate it |

I'd download nVidia's new Detonator Driver.
Perhaps that old sound card (is it ISA?) is slowing you down also. Try setting the sound quality to "low" in your games. A bit more RAM wouldn't hurt either! I'd get at least 128mb. In BIOS what do you have the AGP aperature at? 32? If you get more RAM you can boost that up to 64 or 128! |
