Multi player game recommendations

I just got hooked up with broadband. Didn't have it for over a year since my last move.

I'm looking for recommendations for new games to play on the Internet.

I've played a lot of Quake, Marathon, and Myth. Liked them, but would like a game with a little more strategy.

StarCraft was good, but the games took too long.

Also, I'm a tight budget so I want to stay under $40.

Counter-Strike :-)

Return to Castle Wolfenstein

If you like sports, then I strongly recommend Madden 2003

For FPS games (first person shooters), look at Half-Life. Once you buy that, you can download Counter-Strike. Also, take a look at Unreal Tournament. Its a little dated but still an excellent online game.

If you like RTS games, pick up WarcraftIII.

Also, check out Jedi Knights 2, excellent game.

Warcraft is over 50 dollars, a little over your budget but well worth it.

HTH

Congrats on the Cable!

Buy half-life. It has a ton of mods (all free!) that are very different from one another. Counterstrike, TFC, and Day of Defeat are just a few mods. Counterstrike and Day of Defeat have much more strategy than Quake: you can't just run out in the open and blast everyone with a bazooka.

Jedi Knight 2 is also very fun. It's similar to Quake, but throws in a light sabre and the force to create a very unique and fun FPS.

Even though I thought Medal of Honor was limited in it's senarios I am hooked on it, and I've only played around with it a little but Global Operations looks as if it will be a fun multiplayer.

Unreal Tournament, it has so many mods it'd rediculous. I recommend UnrealFortressGold, Infiltration, Jailbreak, and Thievery to start off with (great UT mods).

Check out Rune too. It's cheap now, has a small tight knit community, and many mods. It's built with the UT engine and is based in viking times. You fight with swords, axes, and hammers. It's my personal favorite. Medal of Honor and JK2 are great multi games too.

CS roxors, as does dod. But my first love is tribes1, followed by tribes2. Tribes1 can be found in many used game places. Dirt cheap too.

UT was $10 at walmart when i was there last
for that price you'd get your money's worth, even without considering free mods

Or download for free, "America's Army", and put the 40 bucks towards junkfood and beer.

AA is the new, up and coming FPS and has a short learning curve.
