VIA 4-1 drivers
I thought i would update my 4-1 drivers, big mistake, what was a stabile system is now a right pain. clicking on drop down menus the list blinks on and off, same with start buttons, opening a file gives me two of them on screen. i have tried system restore to no avail. how can i remove the existing drivers in order to reinstall my ones from cd-rom?

Do a system restore to before you installed the drivers.

Ahh, another via victim is counted...... I never use any 4n1s other than those that are native to XP/2K. I will also never run 98/ME on a via. In your situation, I would do a format and reinstall as I do not trust that there are no remnants of the bad 4n1s left behind. Bad? Are there any good?
Ok, this is just me.

Lol- that would be a bit over doing it
. I've always keep my 4in1's at the latest version (currently 442) and have never had a problem. Cobra or Hal9000 rec's should do the trick.

After reformatting numerous times, zeroing the drive, reloading winxp, i am at my wits end. The PC is still playing up. If i click IE i get two windows open up, whenever i click on anything else its like a triple click things just go weird. to click check boxes it takes me like six or seven attempts to either clear the tick or vice-versa. i have carried out a virus check nothing found, would it be worth clearing the CMOS? i have spent all day on this and am getting desparate!

Tell you the truth, sounds like your mouse is acting up.
Try another one? . . . Gary |

GaryRouth may be onto something. Before you change the mouse, have you checked in your control panel for your mouse to see if the action assigned to the button is just "click" and not something else like "double click"? Just a thought.

Thanks guys, i did check the mouse originally, changed the batteries as its cordless, and checked control panel. but this morning the mouse died completely as it had no lights showing. changed the mouse and all seems ok. Thanks once again for the replies.
