I know this is too early to start asking which 9700 is the best one, but I am just wondering. I see Herc has a 9700, will ATI just bring out a 9700. And what would be the difference in cards?

The built by ATI cards generally have higher chip and memory speeds (more Mhz) than the third party units.

I believe that Hercules has always been good about keeping the speeds the same as Built By Ati cards. Probably wrong though.

Yes, I it needs more wattage(?), and someone stated on the forum that 300w PS is plenty enough.

Probably for the fan, in order to remove the current draw off of the card bus.

A high quality 300 watt power supply is more than enough for any home system. You only need higher wattage if you are running a high end workstation or server. Then you look at 400 watt and up.

He is referrig to the part of the text that reads, "The 6000 AGP will feature an external 100W power supply that hooks up to the board via a connector on the cards back plate."

Review of the Gigabyte's Radeon 9700 Pro - Hitting 400MHz. Its nice to see many types of manufactures comming out with the 9700 gpu.
And just look at those 3dMark scores!

On the speed issue, I guess they will be the same. The hercules card will be the "Official" ATi Radeon 9700 for Europe, as ATi will not be releasing their own board here
![]() (AS you can tell.... I live in Europe!) The herc hasn't been released yet
