So Ti4200, 4400 or 4600
Which one is the best series for Gcards?

Hi Padaxus,
All three are basically the same card, the main difference is the clock speed. The 4600 is obviously the fastest at 350MHz, the 4400 is second at 275MHz, and the 4200 is slowest at 250MHz. You can get a 4200 and overclock it to 4400 speeds for better performance, or even 4400 to 4600 speeds. I personally think the 4200 is the best "bang of the buck" card out of the three, but the 4600 prices will come down when the ATI Radeon 9700 is out, so it's just a budget issue. Hope that helps. Note: Please refrain from creating two threads on the same topic in the future. |

The Radeon 9700 will be available September 9th in retail stores. It may be out a little earlier online. I would wait, since there will be a significant drop in price of the GF4s when it releases.

The real drop will be when the nvidia cards based on the nv30 chips come out. It's supposed to be twice the speed of the nv25, which is what the geforce 3's and 4's are based on.

I like the 4400 b/c it is built more like the 4600 (PCB has more layers, other quality issues). Also, you can avoid the memory speed confusion w/ the 4200 cards (64mb versions have faster mem). Again, if the pocket allows.

Twice the speed of the NV25 eh? Is nVidia really aiming to only match ATI with their Radeon 9700?
The revision of the Geforce 4 line will be out way before the NV30, that is when the original Geforce 4 line will drop in price, as well as the Radeon 9700.
