One wonders if they'll auction off some of those cards at pennies on the doller

That's really a shame, they made some good cards. Why can't PC Chips go out of business.

This is the problem with the way NVidia markets their chips to anyone who wants to build a card. What is happening is cheapie card manufactures, like PowerColor and the other garbage builders are undercutting the business of the high quality card makers. After all most computer shoppers see Nvidia GForce 4 and only see that one is $150 and the Other is $230.
THis is part of the reason that I use ATI and ATI OEM, not that they do not sell their chips to other manufactures, but it seems they maintain a little more control over it. ATI has only 14 outside manufactures. |

Wow, I always thought VisionTek would be doing the best out of all of them. They are the only ones that have cards sold in Bestbuy and CompUSA and the like. I never see nVidia cards sold in retail stores like those by any other companies.

UPDATE!
VisionTek has responded this afternoon (Monday, August 19, 2002) with the following statment. Here is our official statement in reaction to HardOCP.com's recent post: "An Assignee / Trustee has been appointed, and will attempt to maximize the value of the company's assets. His belief is that the assets have a higher value as a "turn-key" operation than in a liquidation. The Trustee is continuing to operate the company to determine if a sale is a viable alternative to a liquidation, and he is currently talking to interested parties. The company is continuing to take orders, ship products, and honor rebates." John Malley Director of Marketing & PR VisionTek |

But I think as long as there are "uneducated users" (as Toaster would say) who buy "cheap" products without caring a bit about quality PC Chips and sisters will keep on growing.
