Power Color

has anyone ever heard of power-color?
my brother bought a radeon 7000 (64 MB DDR, w/ multiple display outputs) powered by ati for 40 bucks this weekend. i've never even heard of power-color, but that was the manufacturer. are they any good? is this something he's possible going to have to replace in a month?

I've used them in some budget builds and they seem to work OK. The only real difference seems to be slightly lower clock speeds, so they don't benchmark quite as high as a built by ATI card. Also, only a 1 year warranty instead of ATI's 3 year.

thanks hal. he was playing gtaIII yesterday, and it actually seemed to be flowing alright. there was a little bit of a chop when like 7 or 8 cars were moving, but that's it. it's a big improvement on his tntII (32 mb's). also, it hooks up to his tv so he can watch dvd's... i guess he's pretty excited about it. (he's 12, and this is his first actually hardware related purchase)

Homer15, you mention his TNTII 32MB Card

I have one of these and GTAIII is a real dog. Can hardly run it (sound skipping along with picture)

Is that what his was like?

yea, it was. i tried tweaking the game settings as much as i could to no avail. it would start off sort of ok, then the frame rate would slow to like 1.5 a second or worse. with this new one it seems to be running ok.
those tntII's are great cards... you definitely get your 20 bucks out of them.

I have the Power color evil master. It's a radeon 7500 ultra. I bought it for 97 bucks. The best 97 bucks I ever spent on a card.
250/250 hz. 64 Mgb 4.3 ms DDR. DVI, Svideo, and 15 pin output. I run dual monitors to do Photoshop and Illustrator stuff.

And, I have never had any driver related issues with any games or other software I use.
