New Video Drivers ... Question
I've read the ATI release notes and searched the forum and found some info on updating my ATI AIW drivers for XP. I just want to make sure I didn't forget anything.
1. Go to Control Panel | Add/Remove and uninstall my current display driver. What about using the Update Driver button in the device driver properties? 2. Go to Control Panel | System | Device manager and set the display driver to standard VGA (I'm not at my PC right now so I assume it will be an option???). 3. Run ATI executable to install new display driver. 4. Run the ATI executables to update ATI Control Panel, MMC, and Capture drivers ... no uninstalls here. 5. I don't have a DVD player so that's it. My main question is, should I let the executable install the display driver or should I do it manually? Also, should there be a reboot between uninstalling the old ATI display drivers and installing the new ones? Lastly, is it okay to go ahead and run the executables for the other updates (MMC, Capture, Control Panel)? |

I usually follow the instructions.
1. Uninstall previous dirver from Control Panel 2. Let it restart (it will start up with the standard VGA driver) 3. Run exe to install new driver, let it restart again. As for the other things like capture drivers, etc. you have to install them in a specific order. When you run the exe it displays the releas notes, it should say in there. I think it's something like 1. Uninstall previous dirver from Control Panel 2. Restart 3. install capture drivers, then DO NOT restart 4. install radeon drivers 5. restart As for MMC, i htink it can be installed at any time. |

MMC is installed last.
