Flat Pannel monitors for gaming?

i remember reading somewhere that flat pannel monitors are not very good for gaming because of image blur. has this been corrected (or is it even correctable)? i'm guess a good'ol fashion CRT flat screen would be ideal....anyone have any input on this?

i just got a flat panel monitor (17") and it is the clearest and best monitor i ever had. It is GREAT for gaming..and i bought the most inexpensive one i could find ($479). there is no image blur or anything..its very clear and crisp....I definately suggest buying one....games like gta3 and warcraft 3 have great quality on my monitor..and plus..it looks cool and is a definate space saver

Well, you'll never get the refresh rates at 1024x768 and above from an LCD that you'd get from a CRT.

LCDs are also a bit dark for my tastes.

things to look for in LCD monitor:

350:1 contrast or better(better would be 400:1)
220 cd/m2 brightness(220 +)
fast pixel response time, look for 25ms

here is a new technology supposedly comming out next month:
FFD

Viewing angle and connection type are also important. Brightness is always 200, 210 or 250 cd/qm, that should be no issue.

Also TFTs are not dark. They are twice as bright as a CRT, and also the contrast is not yet as good as with CRTs.

I just got a 19" Planar through Dell ... they have it for $879 and there's a 25% off coupon code out there ... $659 for a 19" LCD!!! Unfortunately, I got mine for $703 and they only best-price match on entire system sales!

Anyway, I got it Friday and there's no problem playing UT with it. The only down side is the max resolution is 1280x1024. I have mine hooked up via the DVI connection and there's only one refresh rate available (60 Hz), but everything looks fine so far.

That price is hot if you're looking for a monitor. I think the coupon code is good through tomorrow.

I have a LiteOn LitePanel 150 TFT monitor and it is VERY clear. Also with games. Sometimes when you're in the middle of some big action and everything goes very fast, there might be some blur, but it's not that bad .....
