Should I get surround sound?

I have a custom pc for gaming. I was wondering if I should get a surround sound system for it. What is a good brand for a system? Thanks.

I really don't have a sound card. I just use the plug in on my ASUS mobo.

A computer "custom PC" for gaming? You NEED a sound card! It will make all of the difference in the world on your games! I have a Turtle Beach-Santa Cruz card and 5 Yamaha speakers in virtual surround 5.1 mode. Yee-Haaaaw!

You can consider an Audigy too. If you do, be sure to get one with the FireWire port.

Klipsch here with an Audigy, and couldn't live without em.

Sound makes all the difference in the world. Can't appreciate a really nice sound setup til you have one .

I have a cheaper surround setup. I have the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz ($70) with a set of 4.1 Creatives that I got on Newegg for only $60. While they may not be as great as Xayds setup, I'd never go back to 2 speakers. Surround is excellent for gaming and music. I've started downloading more music, turning the tumes up louder and listening to Internet radio, because the sound is so great.

Go for it ChangoMan, you won't regret the choice!

You can also consider the TurtleBeach Santa Cruz and the Altec Lansing THX Certified ADA995 Surround Sound 5.1 Speaker System. THX certifed . They offer this package with highend Dells.

I don't believe that you can plug surround spks into onboard audio (correct me if I'm wrong)
If you don't have a lot of cash SB Live5.1 card will support it.
