you really need to update your drivers.. you will see a huge improvement once you update your drivers.. your drivers are way too old.

23.11 is NOT "way too old" - more importantly, they are very stable. Gotta have a GOOD reason to update drivers that ain't broke. Having said that, 28.32 appears to be stable.

the 28.31 were good drivers, even the new ones from nvidia website are pretty stable too. the 30.82.
http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=win9x_30.82 but i see now they have the 40.41 there too: http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_40.41 for xp/2000 only wolfie |

Benchmarks are one thing - stability is another. You always stand a chance destabilizing things installing new drivers, make sure you have a path back just in case.

A vote for the good old 23.11s here. Glad they came with the card. Nice image at 100Hz refresh.

I lost stability with the new drivers so I had to roll back.
too bad I was looking forward to a performance increase.

I noticed you're talking about new Nvidia drivers, but your wallpaper says ATI RADEON... What gives? ATI & Nvidia are like AMD & Intel... You can't be on the fence man... You've gotta choose one side or the other for goodness sake! j/k Nice wallpaper!

That's a little early to go back, dont ya think? Give it a while. The nv30 is just around the corner.
But on to my tirade... the latest nvid drivers have the worst mipmapping I have ever seen. This is absolutely wrong, they are trying to eek out a bit more performance at the expense of image qaulity. And this can also hurt game play greatly. For what, a stupid bench? I am starting to dislike nvid... |

I just updated to the 30.82 from 28.32, and W2k takes FOREVER to boot now. Of course, my machine usually runs 24/7, so I rarely reboot it, but when I did after I installed then new driver, I thought it was hung up. I was like "aww man, all I did was update a driver!" but it finally booted. It just took forever.
