ATI "Catalyst" driver issues?

Anyone else had problems with 6118? I put them on last week and the machine started freezing up randomly on Web sites, and the only way out was to power down and back up. Uninstall and reinstall 6094 and everything's fine again.

Specs:

P3-800/100 Slot 1, Asus P2B-F BX board
PCI Radeon SDR (original)
Win2K Pro SP3
300w Nspire PSU
CPU temp 40 idle 50 load, system temp 33

Nope.... I've been running them since their release without any issues.

Yep. The Cat 2.2s messed up my tv tuner. I randomly crash to reboot when trying to watch tv. I haven't even tried recording yet!

Then, there's the ATI driver removal issue ... delete everything ATI, edit the registry, re-install and reboot according to a schedule ... some say you must and some say you don't have to.

It's been a mess for me.

Yep, just last night I had this very issue with 6118. I removed and replaced with the 6118 thinking that possibly they were corrupt, but if it continues I will revert back to the previous version.

When I remove the old drivers and install new, the removal also removes ATI WDM?? and it is not part of the new driver.

My Tv out don't work, don't know why. Maybe I should try the old ones.

Kubie,

Check out the forums at rage3d for tons of advice on the ATI drivers. Like HAL says, you have to uninstall everything ATI.

Mind you - I didn't do a purge - I just uninstalled the driver through add/remove programs and rebooted - and canceled out of the new hardware found wizard and installed the driver.

I uninstalled the old driver from add/remove programs... Installed 6118 and have had absolutely no problems! *knocks on wood*

So, you're not alone Hal!
