I remember with my Dreamcast all I needed was a cable
that let you hook your monitor right up to the DC.

Is that what you are trying to do, use your monitor
with your XBox?

A vga box might be a better solution:

Just an example.

wouldn't it just be cheaper to get a composite to coax cable and run it through a tv tuner card if possible?
as well as cheaper
