I have been waiting for about 2 months for the demo, but never downloaded the leak. If the gameplay is the same as UT but with loads of graphical changes, I will be extremely pleased since UT is the BEST GAME EVER!. But from what I heard, gameplay is a litle faster, and sort of like Q3A. Well, which ever way it comes out it is gonna look hella good on my 9700.

I've been waiting...
They keep pushing back their release dates. Oh well, I hope they get it right the first time. Hate paying $50.00 for a game and then have to download 50megs of patches. |

Came out last night at 9pm central time
I played it, not enough servers yet, I am sure tonight will be full of them. On my 1gig athlon/gf2gts, it played decent at default settings. Go download it, play it and post your specs and how it runs. |

I'd love to, but I'm on dial-up. How large is the file? Maybe I'll DL it while I slumber tonight.
What are YOUR reviews of the game? |

It looks fantastic on my 9700. My buddy and I were playing last night on my home LAN, and we were comparing picture quality(9700 and Hercules 4500). There IS no comparison, The 9700 showed grass and other very minute details that not only were blurry on the 4500, but were not even visible on the 4500. It was like the game detected a slower card and did not even put detail onto the 4500's game.
Gameplay is sort of the same...but a little faster than UT. New weapons are hard to get used to, but that is expected. There is a new feature which alows you to double jump, and I guess it will come in handy on certain parts of maps. But overall it was a blast to play. And last time I was playing there were about 450 servers up, so plenty of places to play. Later. |

once you dl the demo, and all the future patches, do you need to purchase the actual game?

Yes, you do need to purchase the game.
The demo only has 2 DM maps, 1 CTF, and 1 Bomming Run map. It gets old really quick, but the double jump thing is fun to mess around with. One that that is really cool....when you shoot someone, but not enough to totally kill them....the part of their body you shot catches on fire.

pretty frigging sweet!!!
As to high it ran and specs - The highest settings were used mostly and it ran great. However the highest settings on some of the controls says normal. I think high will be there later on so the game isn't exactly on maxed out settings. Still a great looking game at 1024*768. |

Played it; loved it. Gotta give kudos to epic; they know how to make good games. I'm in love all over again. LOL.

Ugh, hate it. It's just not UT.
Too much eye candy, flashy stuff they put in actually affects the gameplay (handrails on platforms limit shot angles, get stuck in wall effects if you dodge into them, etc.) Character models too fat, weapon damage too low. Announcers and voice taunts are downright annoying. I think UT ends with UT, this game is gonna flop. Epic took the game away from Digital Extremes during the development process, and did everything themselves (DE did the first game, Epic just supplied the engine). That was the first and last mistake I think. DE devs have even commented on hating the demo. |

OK, well it has allready been stated that there will be MANY character models available. And about the announcer... well I think something was stated that the voices will be optional in the full game.
Plus, this game it UT2003 not UT. I do understand what you are trying to say though. But from my gameing experience, nothing will ever compare to UT. It was the first game that actually got me hooked on(which is never good ). This demo will get more familiar the more and more you play it. Although it is more Quake than Unreal(imo) it does have a "newer feel" with the gameplay. Basically, I like the demo. |

There is no denying that the game is breathtakingly beautiful and quite fun but I, personally, find it to be lacking in the tactics department it is too much jump an click for my taste. Who knows maybe I just play too much counter strike( If I do not get my daily 1 hour dose, I start to shake)

Well, UT was the best game ever created.......
until UT2003 came around!!! This game is amazing, and Digital Extremes deserves 75% of the credit, the rest goes to Epic. Upgrading my system has really paid off it seems, and to think the textures are only 1/2 as detailed as they will be in the full game..... *drools* |

Unreal is one of the best series of games ever created. And this demo is just a taste of the new, remarkable game coming out that is UT2003. Nothing compares... this game simply rocks. Watch your back for Unreal 2 also, coming out around Christmas most likely.

I just got the demo yesterday. I have to say it was amazing. I was worried about framerates with my Geforce2 GTSV but it performed excellently. No slowdown even with lots of action on screen.
I cant wait till this game comes out.

You can set the details past normal by editting the .ini files of which some of you may be familiar. Have a look:

the guy who wrote that article admitted that he didn't notice a difference in detail, but did notice a performance drop.

Played DM last night- seems they made it to play more like QIII. Seems almost too fast- especialy for close combat. But I agree it looks good and sounds good. Also the netcode was great.

You can turn down the speed of play in the options. If you played it online, then the server could have had the game speed cranked up.

The servers somtimes make it so you can jump with little gravity too. I play on some servers and it seems like a prettier UT. On some servers, it very much reminds me of quake.

Now that I've played it several times- the speed is becoming less bothersome. Probably because I had been playing RTCW multiplayer for the past few months in which the movement is much slower.
The demo doesn't contain any protections against cheating- however, as of yet I 've haven't seen any cheating- anyone else? |
