AGP question
Hi friends,
I just wanted to know if I need to look at the mobo details to know if I can install AGP 4x or no. Is it possible to just go ahead and buy an AGP 4x or 8x card if I know that the mobo has a AGP slot. Or do I need to check if that particular AGP slot can take in 4x or 8x? Thanks a lot |

It doesn't hurt to check with the MOBO web site first to see if the vid card your thinking of is compatable. Just had prob with older vid card wouldn't work in new MOBO. That is the most likely scanario, older vid cards don't work well if at all in newer Mainboards. If your buying new up to date components accross the board then you will most likely be in good shape.

Hi gautamzone,
Yes, diffenately research it!! Not all AGP vid cards are compatible with all AGP slots! It's mostly a voltage and recognition thing, as each series of vid cards are different voltages and the mobo has to recognize which type it is so it doesn't feed the vid card too much juice. HTH TwoRails |
