I was browsing the MSN Gaming Zone and Mplayer to see if there were any good QII or other games going. To my surprise, the games with (by far)the most people were Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear, and Ages of Empires (I and II) with up to 3,000 people playing on each game (compared to about 250 for QII). I have never played these games and it seems I may have missed something. Has anyone played these? Played these online? Are they that much better?
Also, the Zone and Mplayer still offer online gaming for some older FPS's such as Outlaws (remember Outlaws? it was a good one-- you played a sheriff in the wild west), Jedi Knight and the orginal Quake. I'm going to see if I can find my old Outlaws CD and give it try. |

Rainbow Six/Rogue Spear is a tactical ops shooter type game, with a terrorist/anti-terrorist theme. It isn't much for eye candy, but the game has alot of depth and strategy. Age of Empires I believe is your standard combat strategy game.
If you like first person shooters with a team/tactical flavor to them, give Rainbow Six a try, you might like it. Xayd |

They sell a bundled package of R6 at Walmart for cheap. If you like Counterstrike, (the Half-Life Mod) then you'd probably like R6. I loved it til Counterstrike came along.

Never played R6, but I read the book it was based on. Downloaded CS today-- but I haven't tried it yet-- where do you play CS anyway? UT and QIII great, just getting a little bored with them and looking for something with more strategy involved-- rather than just quick reaction time. Maybe we can team up on CS sometime.

Ages of Empires (I and II) are RPGs (meaning role playing game) and I for one do not like it at all.
I'll just stick with UT

AOE and AOE II are actually real-time strategy games. Lots of fun, if you have the time. A game can take upwards of several hours.

Yep they're RTS games and they're awesome! Me and a buddy used to play dialup games all the time. Sometimes games would last 3-4 hours!

MS certainly created great titles in the Age of Empire series. I've only played it a few times, but it was excellent.
