Why does video memory matter?
Can anyone help explain something that I have always wondered about.
Why is having more video memory better than having less? Even a good link to explain would be excellent. Any feedback appreciated.

The more VRAM the faster the Screen refreshes. This is really important in Games and Multimedia since the part that you see on the monitor at any one time is great big in size. With smaller amounts of VRAM the processing of what you see, must come from slower parts of the computer.

the image that is displayed on your screen is stored in vram just like the information being displayed is stored in ram. when a system has more ram, it responds quicker because it can hold more information readily available. the same applies to vram.

And you can run at higher resolutions too. With faster refresh rates as morris stated.
