Question

UT automatically downloads maps you don't have when you log onto a multiplayer game. Q: is there a way to get UT to save the map to the hard drive so that the map doesn't need to be downloaded everytime it is used?

As far as I know it does that automatically... mine always stores the maps that it downloads so that it doesn't have to re-download them. Maybe it's downloading similar maps with different sizes?

hmmm, just checked my UT map folder, just have the orginal maps there and not the two new ones I played this afternoon, (all the last modified dates are the same as the date I installed UT)

I'll check the preferences again to see if there is a switch somewhere

Unless you specifically look for servers that have custom maps, downloading the Inoxx and Bonus packs should get everything you need. It'll be faster to download them as compressed zips from unrealtournament.com than from a server, so you might as well get them all.

Thanks mosquito, I see the file now, right, the map was renamed some long string of numbers and letters-- I try the site again to see if it works without a redownload.

Xayd-- I have the Inoxx and Bonus packs but was I trying some custom maps-- I played one in an Egyptian Temple that was really put together well-and wanted to give it another try.
