Weirdest Game You've Ever Played

Games tend to quite predictable but occasionally you come across a game that is so weird it breaks the mould in a refreshing way.

My list of the weirdest FPSs would be

Blood - the daddy of them all.

Realms of the Haunting - the classic chiller that that Undying seems based on

Undying - as above

But my gold award goes to Killing Time.

This is a really weird haunted house FPS which boasts amoung other adverseries, killer Chefs with throwing knives, killer clowns with lots of "teeth", flying mini-skirted, nanny-harpies, and good old boys with hunting rifles and dogs. Highly-recommended.

What's your favourite weirdos?

There was an old Atari bootleg called Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The graphics sucked, but it was ahead of its time as far as gore goes.

I thought the original Half-Life (single player) was weird also.

Mine was an Atari game as well. I wish I still knew the name of it(it wasn't Space Invaders), but you shot down these alien creatures, then you were transported elsewheres to battle a demon looking fella. I thought it was weird, but yet in a neat kind of way too.

Nintendo with "Boy and His Blob". And another one for super nintendo that was a platform game with you being some sort of gelatinous ball that could stretch to get through pipes, boy that game is not for someone with their head in the gutter, but I can't remember its name as I only rented it once.

Doom II with the Beavis & Butt-Head mod. Hilarious!!

Undying, Wing Nuts, Fallout and Fallout 2 (had a lot of funny random encounters if you chose the Explorer perk), Duke Nukem 3D.

Sacrifice. The game kinda died when the developing company didn't support it's balance issues for multiplayer, but it was a nice game, simply because everything in it from the controls to the sound effects to the textures was 100% original.

It had one of the best control interfaces for a RTS that I've seen as well.

Pants... I believe the game you are referring to was "Satan's Hollow". If not, it sounds eerily similar.

As for the weirdest game I've played... man, that's a tough one... I'd have to say Fallout & Fallout 2 had their moments.

Carmeggedon (spelling probably not correct). Kill as many people as you can by running them over. Pedestrians, little old ladies in walkers, etc. If you're really good, you get a saw blade for the front of your car to help with the disposal of your target.

Carmaggedon (or whatever) was great. I never got the point of A Boy and His Blob.

But, the "weirdest" game I have played is Feed The Pig on bored.com. Almost fell off my seat when I exploded my first pig. Really did not see it coming.

Respectfully,

Demosthenes

Hey Beach, there was a sequel to Redneck Rampage, plus an add-on pack. The add-on was entitled 'Redneck Rampage on Route 66', but I cannot remember the sequels title, but it was something like 'Rednecks Revenge'. However, my vote for weirest game would have to be 'Shrak' and 'Malice' which were both add-ons for the original Quake!!

BTW, both 'Shrak' and 'Malice' were both commerical add-ons for 'Quake', but not from id. And Beach, if you thought Half-Life SP was alittle weird, try that free add-on for Half-Life entitled 'They Hunger.' In that you fight dead people, sort of like 'Night Of The Living Dead.' It was weird, but damn it was good!!!!!!!

Yea,

They Hunger 1 & 2 are good survival horror mods.

The amatuer team did a great job.

The skeletons are particularly good with their little catchphrase of "Cooooold".

Just play them in a dark room, late at night, and they'll get you jumping.

Hmmm..must investigate Shrak and Malice.

What's the theme in both of them Stubby?

Agree, Blood 2(my favorite FPS to date) could become quite scary at some places...

i think my weirdest was "giant citizen kabuto" but it was so fun and the graphics kicked ass. but the story was kind of a mixture between stupid, weird, and funny.

smokin American McGee's Alice

CurtM,

Yep, you're right, I forgot about Alice. I completed that game a year or so ago. Very weird indeed! Magic Mushrooms, an army of cards, a talking cat, a vicious caterpilliar, an ox in diapers, acorn dropping june bugs... and a world that was just WEIRD!

The weirdest games ever are the sims games. People play little electric people going through all the boring things that we play video games to escape. Ofcourse, they have expansion packs that allow your little electric people have "real" lives like HOT date and livin' large. I just want to get it out in the open, "I do not play video games so that I can pretend to take out the trash, use the restroom and cook; I play video games so I can ignore all those things."

The weirdest thing about those games is that there is actually a niche for it.

The sims might beat this game title in the category of horror, but I loved all the Resident Evil's. Now, that is a game that can make you jump.

Ditto AcidJazz.

I'm playing Blood 2 at this very moment. I like Caleb's graveyard humour and the atmosphere. Hell on earth.

I like to give my old games an airing every few years.

My only criticism is Monolith got rid of the disembodied hands and robed cultists with their creepy language in Blood 2. However, they did redeem themselves by re-introducing both in the mission-pack.

Hey Mike, the theme for 'Malice' is futuristic when where big corporations are vieing for the latest technology. However, you are playing the role of a 'mercenary' working for a crooked crime boss (is there any other kind?) and you have to steal plans for some new technology. It really is pretty decent and the graphics are pertty decent also if you play it with the OpenGL patch for Quake. The weapons are really well made too. And all the enemies are new too, just as in 'Shrak.' Speaking of 'Shrak.' It was the first total conversion of 'Quake' and it too is really good. However, it's been so long since I've played it, I cannot remember what the storyline is! Both of these have about 18 LARGE levels each and will keep you busy for awhile if you want to try them. Oh one more thing about 'Malice,' it has alot of new unQuake like features like a reload key, a parachute which is really cool, a probe that you can send ahead of you to look for trouble, a jet powered skateboard (they call it something different in the game) and a few other things that slip my mind right now. You can check it out at www.qmalice.com. I guess that's more than you wanted to know, huh? I just got started and couldn't stop!!!
