Heretic II

Supposedly, the patch added a new first person view for the game, but where is it? I've been unable to find it.

If anyone knows about it, I'd really appreciate the help.

TIA

Did I ever tell you that your moniker of Weary and Beaten Paladin is cool: it reminds me of the poem, Lord Randall. "...for I am weary with hunting and fain wald lie down."

Do you know where can I find that poem? Looks like an interesting reading.

My moniker reminds me of that song by M. Moorcock, Veteran of the Psychic Wars. *sigh*

I think this is it:

http://www.activision.com/downloads/286.asp

according to the readme file:
First Person Point of View
While we believe that we have successfully convinced players around the world that a third-person point of view can create an engaging, full-force action game, there are still people that would like the option of seeing things as they would in your average “first person shooter”. For these people we have provided some handy variables to adjust the point of view for the player. First, there is a console variable that can be set to turn the “first person mode” on:

cl_camera_fpmode 1
This mode places the camera slightly behind the Corvus, with Corvus himself being nearly transparent. This mode is only recommended for more powerful machines or capable 3D cards. The first person mode can be adjusted with the following console variables.

cl_camera_fpdist
Distance behind the character. Defaults to 16.0, minimum 1.0.

cl_camera_fpheight
Height above the character’s neck. Defaults to 0.0.

cl_camera_fptrans

Heretic II? Cool... probably one of the best 3D-person action games ever created... if not the best.

Have you started playing recently Nuke? I know it's far from being new, but it's good to see some people still enjoy these "old" adventure games .

Do you play Heretic II on multiplayer?

I bought it a year ago. Played it once and left it alone, mostly because I couldn't find the FPS view options.

I replayed it again. This time I blazed thru it. I finished it in three afternoons.

I've never played it on MP. And yes is one of the best third person view 3D games, I enjoyed it more than Tomb Raider.

We should try to get a few people for an "Oldies" MP game session... starting with Heretic II...

bah. just an idea like that. I'm tired.

It would be cool. Perhaps those oldies would work with my dial-up connection.

Before I got a high-speed connection (a month ago), I played UT, Rune, and other games on 56k. Ok it's frustrating sometimes, but I still managed to kick some butts !

I think Heretic II would play just fine...

Anyone else is interested in some old games MP? Got a feeling of nostalgia over here

Duke Nukem would be sweet... would've to find my copy though... it's *somewhere,* I know that...

Haven't played C&C in a long while... might be fun to renew with my first computer games experiences....

For some reason, I really like the Kat'lik Canyon... I don't know why... must be the blue skies

Oh, and of course, I love the Andoria sections of the game.

But Morcalavin is *really* excellent. I mean, he's the perfect villain!
