You'll get a bunch of answers, but I consider the Radeon a much better card than the GFORCE 2MX. I also think that when you talk price versus quality the ATI cards are a better bargin than the budget NVidia Builders.

I agree.
For budget cards, you will probably want to go the ATI route. |

I never had a soft spot in my heart for the GeForce2 MX series, so I would go with the ATI, though I have no experience with the 7000.
With prices as they are, you can very well find a very good card for cheap somewhere on Pricewatch or through other channels. Respectfully, Demosthenes |

One more vote for the Radeon. I've installed a Radeon 7000 in my brother's computer; nice card. Don't know that its up to some of the graphics of today's games but the other card probably isn't either. For the price though you can't go wrong with the Radeon. If you get an OEM version of the card that's made by another manufacturer, you'll find its probably cheaper yet.

This card really is a nice card for the price,I have used 6 or 7 of them in builds. THey play games nicely. It is manufactured by Sapphire and uses an ATI Chipset, but is high quality.
ATI OEM RADEON 7000 64MB DDR AGP TV OUT BULK $39.00 For a little bit more you can get ATI OEM RADEON 7500 64MB DDR AGP BULK,Power by ATI $61.00 All Prices are Newegg.com |

I'd go with the GF2 because those early Radeons are what has given ATi a bad reputation with drivers...

Can you still even buy a GeForce2 ?(not MX series)?
If so, then definitely get one of those. Just make sure it is not an MX. In fact don't get any card that has MX in the name. It basically means "serious compromise in performance" or in other words, "not worth it". |

The 7000 and the 7500 are NOT early Radeons - they are current offerings. ATI has followed Nvidia's lead now and is offering unified drivers. The only Nvidia "MX" I will take over a Radeon 7000 is a GF4 MX and that only if I were looking for a cheap card strictly for gaming, I'll take any ATI over any Nvidia any day for everything else except games.

Either of those cards is going to be equally inferior to what is currently at the top of the video card "food chain". While both are excellent cards for the money, they both lack in performance equally. Both are scaled down versions of the real thing.
That said, I've been using a GeForce 2 MX in my kids' computer for over a year, and they can play UT, MOHAA, Q3, etc at low resolution with VERY playable framerates. It just comes down to your personal preference, but both of those cards are about equal performance wise.
