HDTV PC Possible??

Hi All
About a year ago, I saw an ad on TV for a Digital VCR from Pioneer. It was $1k. I thought that since I had a PC, I should be able to upgrade to a Digital VCR for much less. So, I purchased a 7500 All in Wonder video card. I now have both a Digital TV and Digital VCR for $200.

HDTV is my next learning project. I wish to view HDTV, but do not wish to spend $2K. The short question is, is it possible for a PC to function as a HDTV? If yes, then I’ll continue my research. I understand that this is a broad question, and may not be applicable to this forum. However, I suspect that the knowledge lies within this group. I know little about HDTV and video cards. Any info and/or direction to appropriate websites would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Palladrj

A monitor is high definition. But it does not have hte widescreen option like most HDTV's.

Still, get a tv tuner and hook it up to your computer. You will have TV through your monitor. Looks good I hear. Never tried it myself.

Hi palladrj,

The only HDTV card for the PC that I'm aware of can be found Here .

~~~~~
Also, not trying to split hairs, but having an ATI card is Not the same as a digital VCR. A digital VCR is as different as a VHS-C camcorder is to a Digital camcorder. The format is not even close to being the same, nor is the quality.
BTW, Mitsubushi has one (digital VCR) for $699 at Best Buy! Just like DVD burners were thousands of dollars just a few years ago, it won't be long now before D-VCRs are affordable.
fyi- the link I provided is for another hdtv card for the PC- The Wintv and the Accessdtv cards provide about the same picture quality, however, the Accessdtv card has better record and playback capabilities. Both cards are substantially cheaper than a STB (set top box) reciever.
