Has anyone found a reliable way to beat Malcom in the Championship? I've tried others' suggestions, but I still keep getting thumped.
He starts going into Berserk mode after 5 kills. I can't even see him and I'm getting lightning strikes to the head. Frustrated! |

haven't got there quite yet.
But I believe you jsut need to outsmart and outreflex the bot. You will feel really good after doing it I am sure, plus you know you increased your skills, and then you may be able to take me on in the servers... SUCKA!!! (yes that's a challenge )

DilLy,
Unless you've been there you don't understand. After about 5-7 kills, Malcom goes "berserk". You can't even see him and you're getting a lightning strike in your noggin! I've tried several suggestions from others who have beat him, but I just can't do it. I've had to step away from my computer at times for fear I may tip it over! Damn his cheatin' ass!!!!!! |

lol!
I'll be his victim soon enough. I only have to finish the bombing run ladder, then i will have finished them all. I suppose there are a few more levels after that?? |

Cut, Slash and Run is sometimes the only way to beat hard opponents.

It took me 3 times to finally beat him. My gameplan was just to get loaded on health and ammo, and just run back and forth on the elevated catwalk with the hole in the middle.
All you need to do is keep watching both elevators and never stay in one spot longer than a second. When you see him comming up on one side of the catwalk, just spam(w/the flak) the narrow walkway where he is while you keep strafing left and right in the middle circle. After every kill you get, keep checking for power-up's in the middle, and get the pills as soon as they appear on the outer edge of the map. Going shot-for-shot is not the way to play with this bot, he is just too good. And that's it.

Thanks! Is there any benefit to beating him? (extra skins, new maps, etc.) If not, I may save myself the misery.

Yeah, I know you get more player models. You might get some more stuff, I'm not sure. I have seen people using the new models online after beating the singleplayer, they are all classic from UT (too cool). Malcolm, Brock, and that girl, there might be more since all the other player races have seven each.

Well, it's still better than the original UT. That time you only got one new model (Xan) and the satisfaction that you beat him.
I like those classic remakes in this version, they look real tight. Everything looks tight in this game though, so that's a given. |

Yes, the game looks great. I know it does nothing for gameplay, but the intro at the start of single player ladder looks great. (besides the low detail of the fan's models)

If you are almost at your wits, you can always resort back to console commands like god and loaded and allammo. To bring up the console command, punch the tilde button on your keyboard.

First try this morning I beat him. Here's what worked for me...
In the trenches there is a corridor with two niches on each end. It is usually filled with health vials (good thing). In the niches there is no way for him to shoot you from above. I just hang out with my Flak cannon and wait. Once I kill him I quickly run down the corridor and back to pick up the health vials. You may need to stray and get some more Flak shells once or twice. |

haha. CAMPER!!!!
lol. I've been trudging through the BR ladder the last day or two. I hated BR-BiFrost. It was a 2 1/2 hour stalemate... jeez. On the last BR map now though, and soon to beat it. Then I unlock the box. How many more levels are there after all the main ladders are completed?? Last edited by DilLy; 10-13-2002 at 07:12 PM. |

You have one (fairly easy) team deathmatch before you meet Malcom. The end of the Single player is pretty anti-climatic. I guess it's really built for multi-player (online) usage.

This very night, me and about six of my friends put the bots on godlike for a game of people versus machine in a bombing run. At the end of regulation, it was 0 to 0. Two and a half hours later, we finally put a exclamation mark on it with a TD. Woohoo!!! Let me tell you, six camping bots are very hard to score on and they follow you three and four at a time, when you have the ball.
The hardest part is when you kill them, they respawn back at their base, so the guy that you killed half way through to his base is waiting for you when you get there. |

Anyway, I finally got through SinglePlayer, late last night.
One thing is for sure... Malcolm is on C-R-A-C-K. What a cheap bastard. Weapon stay wasn't on, so he would go gather up all the weapons, come and kill me, then when I respawn there were no weapons to grab and he would kill me again. I would respawn and he would blast me point blank with the Flak Cannon right (and i mean RIGHT) when I respawned. Always taking advantage of his Adrenaline moves. Got what a Ba$tard!!!!! I fought him like ten times. The first 9 matches, the closest I got to beating him was 9-10. I got sick of this and put it on God mode, LOL!!! Malcom didn't knw what was going on. You know I fugure if he is going to be cheap then so am i, and anyway, I try to increase my skill online. I just wanted those darn Models!!!!!!!!! Ya know? I beat the semi-final team match right before it, in TWO minutes. That was so easy it was rediculous. Then I fight this stupid a$$. It was the only time I cheated. I swear. Please don't hurt me for cheating. I repent, I repent! Last edited by DilLy; 10-14-2002 at 03:43 AM. |

Keep moving and stay accurate. The flak cannon is the key to beating him. it can shoot around corners and stuff.

I beat him the second match. First match I lost 9-10, second I won 10-9. I realized he isnt as accurate as he seems. Never engage him on the floor because hell always hit you. A good thing I found was to go in the trench to get 170 health, then pick up weapons without fear of him hitting me before I had something powerful. 2 things I found that worked really well for me. 1. Try to get out of the maze while he is still in it, better yet, block an exit ramp with the rocket launcher when he is behind you. I got him a couple times this way. 2. Go UP. Use the elevators and the platform above the maze. I loaded up on rockets, and waited for him to come up. I strafed back and forth in that circlular area when he was getting off the elevator. He will jump around but the splash damage will finish him off.
