You'll be able to play it... and install DX9, you just won't get the performance that a full DX9 compatable card and DX9 will give you.

Yep,

Prepare to shell out more money - PC gaming is a vicious circle.

I sometimes think MS, video card manufacturers, and game developers are in cahoots to perpetuate this circle.

But that would be a very cynical point of view...completely foreign to my celtic nature...

Hi Nuclear Krusader,

NO!! GF 4s are 8.1 cards.

The only card that is supposed to be full DX9 is the ATI 9700. So far, all other DX9 cards are almost full support cards.

*sigh* No point in buying one then.

Problem is that the 9700 is way too expensive.

am I right in saying that even if we had DX9 cards you would need a very expensive processor to turn all the advanced features on?

Yeah,
I'm waiting for the NV30, and a new P4 3.0 (might wait for 3.5), and skipping the 9700 altogether. I keep hearing more and more issues with ATI's drivers. I thought they took care of thier substandard drivers!?

Ya, I'm going to wait, too. My GF 3 plays everything I have, and probably 98% of the games to be out for the next year. It's getting too pricey to upgrade each time...

(and I heard that ATI drivers are better, but that certainly doen Not mean Fixed !!)

If you go to megagames.com, you can find it there under the heading of 3dfx strikes back.
