Madden 2003 and sound
I've been trying to play Madden2003 for months now but I can only get the game to run if I uninstall my soundcard from the device manager screen. Otherwise, the game crashed to the desktop just before the main menu comes up. I was able to play with the sound immediately after installing, but never since. I've updated my sound drivers to the newest ones, am running newest DX version, and the soundcard is a Soundblaster Live! Value.
What is this C-Media device and *** did it come from? I've tried to uninstall it multiple times but the system just replaces it on bootup. The game won't work when this device is selected either, but I thought this might be causing a problem. I have onboard sound on my motherboard, and I think this might be it. However, onboard sound is disabled in my BIOS. What gives? |

The C-Media is in fact the onboard sound. You need to make sure it's completely shut off in bios and make sure you also don't have to move a jumper on the motherboard.

I got it disabled and its not showing up in device manager, but Madden 2003 still won't work without unistalling everything as far as soundcards go. The drivers are compatible, directX says they're fine and the game ran perfectly the first time I tried it. The EA tech people have given up, I don't know what to do.
