Hi Jp1095,
ATI 8500 or 9700, but not the 9000. Any nVidia GeForce Ti 4600. Don't get the MX cards. Cricket

Even the GeForce Ti 4400. That's what I have and am very very pleased with it. And the price for them is outstanding.

for those listed i would go with the 9700 first, then the geforce ti4400 and then 8500
really, i would wait another month, because nvidia's new gpu is supposed to be launched in november.

The 9500 pro is suppposed to be out by 10/15.
If he doesn't want to part with the cash for a 9700 it could be a good choice. |

Hi Jp1095,
Right now, the 9700 is the king of the hill (and I'm a GeForce fan!). But any flavor of the GF 4 (NOT the MX) will do very nicely. Or, you could do a little research, as there are quite a few new vid cards comming out very soon, like the GF 5. Personally, I'm going to wait until the new wave of vid cards are out. My GF 3 is doing just nicely until the dust settles... TwoRails |

well i have to add a vote in here for the aopen ti4200 128mb card, good gaming card, easily overclocked to 4400 standards and only $150. but if it was me, i would wait untill the n30 chips are out.

What's the price range you need? For all but the most demanding games, the GF4 Ti4200 should do the job fine at around $150, to get noticeably better performance be prepared to spend a lot more. I prefer ATI for general use, but for a dedicated gaming box Nvidia is still the best way to go unless you want to take a chance on the Radeon 9700.
