Whats some good free or shareware programs that will let me copy my dvds to my hardrive?

This site should have several programs that will fit the bill for you. Just make sure you own the originals and let's keep this thread from becoming a "warez" thread. If it veers in that direction, I'll be putting the brakes on it (aka locking it) real quick.

do you lose anything by copying to the harddrive.....sound or pic quality....

Nope, you don't. That's the beauty of DVD. Digital copies don't lose any quality
