Questions about GF4 TI4200

Hi all,

I just bought a GF4 TI4200 Card and have a couple of questions hoping someone could help me.

1. How do you Overclock the card? I could not find this option anywhere.

2. Should I Overclock the card? I play the game everquest an still experience some lag in certain areas. I heard I can Overclock to 4400-4600, is their any drawbacks on doing this? any problems I might experience doing this? I never overclocked anything before so not sure, all details would be helpful.

System:
1.33 Tbird AMD
KT266 MB (I think, at work)
512m
2 x 40g HDD
GF4 TI 4200

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Drawbacks:
1) I beleive that there usually is a "warranty voided if overclocked" clause in the eula just to cover the manufacturer.
2) You will generate more heat
3) You can degrade performance (visually) after a point, ahhh and where is that point? go up slowly and pull back once the "artifacts" start to appear.

BUT, the Recommended Specs are as follows:
Windows® 98/2000/ME/XP
Pentium® III or greater
512 MB RAM
32 MB Direct3D compliant video card and hardware T&L (i.e. ATI Radeon or Nvidia GeForce 2 or greater)
DirectX 8.0 compatible sound card
56.6k (or faster) Internet connection
16X speed CD-ROM
1.5 GB+ hard drive space
Note: DirectX 8.1 or greater is required for Windows 98 ,XP, ME, and 2k.

and you look like you have all of the hardware etc, the only thing might be the Direct X, make sure you have the current version (Start-->Run>DXDIAG), if it is current then I can think of only two items,
1)screen resolution set too high (probably not the problem) or
2) server connection, can you hook up through another server? (I admit to have never played an online game just read about it so I may be off a little on that last bit)

The latest drivers are the 40.41 Detonator drivers. They increase 3dMark points by about 1000.

As for overclocking, this is the easiest program Ive found to use. http://www.entechtaiwan.com/ps.htm You do not really need to overclock that card since it is so fast but if you want to, Powerstrip is the way to go.

I checked NVIDIAs site. They do show the Detonator drivers, the new beta drivers are the 40.72s. If you have Win XP/2000 heres the link: http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_40.72 If you have 95,98, ME http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=win9x_40.72

On this page: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp select, Graphics Driver in the first box, Then "Detonator 40" in the second box and then click on your operating system.

HTH
