Opinions on these video cards

I am looking at upgrading my video card. I have used ATI in the past so that is what I'm sort of looking at now. I'm not a big time gamer but I'd like to at least be able to play the Madden football series. Currently I have Madden 2002 so that is the one that I'd like to get running first. I'll wait until Madden 2003 comes down in price before I get that.

Anyway......I am looking at two cards on Mwave. What are your opinions? Any experiences with these cards?

ATI RADEON 7000 64MB PCI DDR W/DVD PLAYBACK VGA CARD
or
ATI RADEON 7000 64MB AGP SDR W/DVD PLAYBACK

The AGP is an OEM so I am assuming it comes with no additional software.

I'm not looking to spend a lot. $65 - $70 is about my limit. I'm currently on a pretty tight budget. I just want something to get the job done....doesn't have to be fancy.

Is there a Geforce that is comparable or better in the same price range?

Thanks

If you're aiming at a moderate amount of gaming then not that one.
Any of the 8500s you can still find would be a better choice . I think 64mb ones are in the $75.00 - $90.00 range.

Whatever you choose, go AGP, not PCI!

I'd recommend a GeForce 3 or 4 Ti series card.

Howdy

can you afford to wait a little while til you can get the ATI Radeon 8500?... like pam123 said, it's not much more than the 7000 series... I vote for AGP cards also...

Have fun

Just found this at
http://resellerratings.dealtime.com/...7&NF2=CO054323

Visiontek Xtasy 6564 Geforce3 Ti200 64MB AGP w/TV...

$69.00

If that's truly in stock like it says, then it seems like a killer deal to me.

You talked me into stretching my budget a little and sticking with AGP. Now I'm looking at the ATI RADEON 8500LE 64MB AGP DDR 3D/DVD 2X/4X DVI INPUT 225MHZ W/TV OUT which is $85.00. But I see that the ATI RADEON 9000 128MB AGP 2X/4X DDR W/TV-OUT (OEM) is only $4.00 more. These prices are from Mwave. The 9000 is OEM so I'm assuming that it is just the card and driver....no additional software. The 8500LE is a white box so I'm assuming that it comes with additional software and that is why the prices are so similar. Are these correct assumptions?

Any comments on how the 9000 works?

I'm pretty sure white box and OEM are similar as far as any extras go, meaning slim to none. The 9000 is just a number game and is inferior to the performance of the 8500.
Get the 8500, you won't be dissapointed IMHO.
