Question Powered by ATI vs. Made by ATI

Is there a difference between Powered by ATI graphics cards and Made by ATI graphics cards, pretaining to performance?

Sort of, not that you'd really notice it. Most of the time, the "Powered by ATI" cards have their core and RAM at a few less MHz, usually 20 or 25 less. The only exception is the Crucial Radeon 8500LE which has its RAM clocked more than 100MHz less than the "Built by ATI" card. Steer clear of that, it will perform noticably slower. Other than that, you'll never notice the difference, take advantage of the lower prices. Especially since you can probably overclock them up to regular specs. Hope it helps

Hi The KMACian,

Powered are usually OEM cards slower by 20-50MHz like Furius92 mentioned, but they're cheaper than Made and can be overclocked to higher speeds.

As they said there is a little bit of diff in performance, however the Powered by ATI cards built by Sapphire Technology (Sold by Newegg.com) are really great cards. They also keep the driver current.
All of the NVidia GForce cards are all built by a third party as NVidia only sells the chipset and IMHO they do not care who builds cards based on them. ATI on the other hand seems to keep better control over their partners and even lists them on their website.
