Hmm maybe not.
Pixel shading techniques either came after or right aaround when the PS2 was launched, if my memory serves me correctly. It might have them though, would have to check PS2 techie page somewhere. |

I think a PS2 is more akin to a geforce 2, so it has many features, and runs very fast, but no pixelshaders, or anything like the "nature" test in 3dmark 2001

DOesnt matter, look at Onimusha II for ps2 best water effects around... try to find something better. PLus is doesnt matter all about the hardware. The games are great and thats what makes the ps2 great. It may not look the best or have 4 players... but online play is FREE unlike xbox and the game quality... theres sooo many games, if you want me to elaborate I can!

Interesting.
This is a little off topic, but I heard that Metal Gear Solid2 was coming to the PC sometime. |

You pay £30 or $40 for the XBOX live starter kit and get subscription for a year, a headset, and 2 games. i think i know which is better value, my PS2 is already gathering alot of dust Also 90% of the early PS2 titles werent all that good, very much like the stage the xbox is in now - the PS2 has had its limits pretty much reached, where as the XBOX developers have only just begun finding out what it can do, |

the developers are even saying there are a hell of alot of things that havent been tried on it yet, its not a basic Geforce 3 either, its been bumped up a coupla notches, and they aint bad cards in the first place.
i wouldnt say it was "slightly better" i have both systems and the PS2 doesnt touch the XBOX on graphics in most games, the PS2 has many more titles though so thats the big selling factor for it, as soon as the laclustre titles stop being produced then the XBOX will shine just as the PS2 did a while back. XBOX live is gonna blow the socks of any consoles multiplayer for a long time! i totally agree on the comparison to PC grapghics though, its impossible to make them up to date. but people dont like the "Hassle" of PC's so they choose consoles, which are increasingly becoming like PC's anyway! If I remember correctly the PS2 has a 233mhz processor whereas the XBOX has a 733mhz processor. Plus the XBOX has A LOT more memory to throw around. Even the Dreamcast had more video memory than the PS2 has, which contributed to PS2's sub-par texturing capabilities. PS2 also doesn't have fullscreen antialiasing, whereas the XBOX does, and so does the Dreamcast. This is the reason why the old PS titles looked better on the Dreamcast than they did on the PS2, although you needed Bleem! to play them on the Dreamcast. PS2 can only have Fullscreen anti-aliasing when it is hardcoded into the game in the beginning of its production. Remember all the jaggies on the early PS2 titles? Yuck!
XBOX is a better deal than the PS2 in more respects than just power though, I mean you have to pay Sony more money just to have a 4 player box, XBOX has four right away. XBox comes with a harddrive and ethernet card built in; if you want those on the PS2 you need to fork uot more money, and they aren't cheap, especially when you are a console gamer. Sega pioneered that whole "upgrade your console" approach with the Genesis and it pretty much flopped on them. The Genesis itself did great but the upgrades didn't sell to well, except maybe the CD drive, whatever it was called. |

HDTV aswell its basically higher resolution and higher quality sound output, TV's are working their way to being built with them, but a good one nowadays will cost bout £600-700 ![]() the only thing the PS2 has for it now is GTAIII and the PC version is better! wait for Halo2 xbox live will rule with that and so will lamborghini!cannie wait! |

I have both an Xbox and a PS2, the games right now for the Xbox to put it mildy are sub-par compared to the PS2. For example, I have ICO which has great graphics and gameplay, so far I haven't found a game on the Xbox that matches that caliber. I'm sure one is out there, but once developers produce a game with great graphics and gameplay for the Xbox, maybe the Xbox will start getting better games.
Of course none of those game consoles can come close to my PC, but I don't want to play games on my PC for I feel my PC should be put to better use. The only game I really play on my PC is Links 2003, but I've been hooked on that game since the very first Links.
