Gaming card

I'm looking to upgrade my video card sometime in the coming months. I don't require that it be top top of the line like the radeon 9700. However, I absolutely need the games to run at 1024x768 res w/o a hitch at least. Also, I'd want the textures and details be at or close to the highest settings. The games I'd be playing are Madden 2003 and Unreal 2k3. Maybe a G4 Ti4200? would that do it?

that, or the 4600.

You're gonna need it if you want to play UT2k3 at 1024x768x32 at highest settings. You will also need a very good processor and a lot of Ram (512 at least)

(i hear madden 2003 looks great too, so you can bet it will make good use of the 4600 as well)

Yeah, I can get madden pumping at 1024 x 768 x 16 with a great frame rate. However, in UT2k3... it's like.. back it up change the settings down. If anyone is a fan of football video games.. get madden 2k3... great game - a lot better than last years.

Go with the 4400 if you want a mid line card. I have the MSI 4400 and love it. If it was a woman, I'd marry it.

The Radeon 8500 is an excellent card, a great improvement over that Geforce 2. Make sure you pick up the version that does not have "LE" on it. The non LE cards perform better because they are clocked faster. With the 8500 UT2k3 and Madden will run very well.

I'd look at like a Radeon 8500 LE 128MB. Newegg and MWave both have them for under $100. Great price for that card, and it can easily be overclocked to standard Radeon 8500 specs. Just an idea...
