Radeon vs. GF Ti

Hi, I need to decide whether I should get a Radeon 8500Le or a GeForce 3 Ti200. They would both be 128 MB DDR memory and I would be upgrading from a GeForce 2 MX400 64 MB. I don't do any hardcore gaming...just games like Warcraft and UT. Thanks a lot guys!

I know I will get grief for this, but I am not an ATI fan. I had an ATI card in my last machine and was very disappointed in their driver updates and general support in fixing issues. I am an avid gamer and sometimes you'll need an updated driver to fix a glitch in a game, or get a game to run properly, etc... well, I've never seen it before where an updated driver will finally make "game x" work, but nothing else functions! True story...

I now have the GeForce4 Ti4400 in my new machine and have been loving it since day 1. Nice gaming card and it'll get just about everything else done that I could possibly imagine doing.

I like my ATI 7500 just fine. The drivers were a tad bit confusing but I've gotten updates for it and I'm pleased with it. I think ATI has better picture quality, but Nvida based cards have higher framrates. Plus Nvida has all these different companies manufacturing their cards. I thought it was confusing trying to find the right one to get. I know ATI is starting to do this with the 8500, but it has alot less confusion over what card to get etc.

I'll recommend Gainward. Had no problems with mine. Here is a Geforce 3 Ti200 "Golden Sample" for $113.00(US).

Yep, O Beachian, that is exactly the same one I was going to get if I went the nvidia route. I think I'll go with the GeForce...but now I have another dilemma. Go for the GF3 Ti200 or the GF4 Ti4200. If I get the GF3 I'll have enough money to spare to change out my case fans and buy a new hsf for my cpu...my temps are a little high now, but not bad. If I go for the GF4, I'll only have enough for that and no fans...what do you guys think there? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I know, but I can barely afford a Ti4200 let alone a Radeon 9700. Believe me, if I had the money, there would be no question as to what vid card I would get!

I have the gainward ti200 golden sample, and in the enhanced mode, it runs as fast as a geforce3. It benchmarks very nicely, and My real arguement for NVIDIA is the drivers, especialy with windows XP

I ordered myself a GAINWARD/CARDEXPERT GeForce 4 Ti 4200, 4ns, 128MB DDR, Power Pack Golden Sample this morning for my birthday which was on October 16th. Anyone else have this card? I've done plenty of reading on it... so I know it's a power house. I can't wait to try UT2K3 with it!!!

I put a Gainward 64mb Ti4200 plain jane model into a kid's AMD 1.2 machine to replace a Radeon LE - the difference in Counterstrike is like night and day. 3D mark went from 2500 to 6700 running it stock with the drivers off the CD.
