Sanitarium and Windows XP...

... keep getting crashes "windows has encountered an error" just a few minutes into the first gameplay level. Runs fine before that. Tried compatibility mode, but no help.

Any suggestions? It's a cool game, and I'd like to play it.

(I also could use some help figuring out how to install the patch, though it probably won't help the crashing issue.)

It might fix the problem if the patch was released after XP came out.

What kind of file is it? Have youtried installing it yet? What are the problems?

It just unextracted as a file with a mysterious SCN.006 file. Don't know what to do with it.

I put it into the Sanitarium folder that was installed in my program files folder on my HD when I first installed the game.

There is another file with the same name on the disc itself, but this file wasn't copied onto the hard disk, it's just on the cd, so I can't replace it.

Maybe it needs to be on your harddrive and wasn't copied correctly when you first installed, thus your windows errors when playing.

Maybe try reinstalling the game. and then applying the patch again. Is there any instructions on the Santiarium site for installing the patch? There should be...
