Overclocking Gainward Ti 4600

A few Q's: how would I benefit more, from OC'ing the Core or the Memory? Also, how far do you think I could go with the memory, my Gainward's got some pretty spiffy ramsinks top and bottom, and default memory clock was 648, I have it cautiously set at 659, how far do you think I could go? Thanks.........

Edit: here's a picture of the card........note the aforementioned ramsinks........Also, RAM is 2.8ns.

You overclock both...not just one.

I know.......my core is already OC'd from 300 to 321, but I haven't really touched the memory(except for about 10MHz). I just want to know if I OC the memory more, will I notice a difference in my 3Dmark score? Or in any app, for that matter? And, my original Q still stands: how high could I go w/the memory on this card? Thanks...........

I would just keep the core around 320...but you should easily surpass 700mhz on the mem.

Think so? I think I'll try later. I agree with you and am keeping the core at 321 because that's almost 10% of stock, and I don't want to push it.

I'm going for 13K, but it doesn't look like I'm gonna make it, at least not with stock cooling. I got the memory to 686, and raised my 3DMark score 200, but I'm afraid to go any higher, my temps are high as it is. Oh well, this works for me!

I plan to make it

What the heck, just keep bumping it up at 1Mhz notches until you start to get video issues then back up a bit!

Let us know your score!

Check sig, I haven't tried overclocking any more in a while, I got up to 12,800 in 3Dmark, but I can't remember the exact score, nor do I have the Compare URL. A question: I overclock with EXPERTool; do I have to leave it running to have the card run at the OC'ed speeds? Does it set it back to default if you close EXPERTool? Thanks......

It leaves it at the last setting at which you had it when you closed.
