The strongest 128 meg card for games you can get now for $150 is a GeForce4 Ti4200.

I agree. The 128MB Ti 4200 is a really nice card, especially for overclocking. Look at MSI, Gainward, VisionTek, etc.

With Doom 3 alpha the lowest frame rate i've seen with my system specs is 14fps. This is using the Ti200 at 1024 x 768. My score is around 9000 using 3DMark2001SE. The Ti4200 should easily be able to handle this game, and is well worth the money. At E3 they showcased the game with an ATI 9700 Pro.

Quality video card manufacturers would include MSI, Gainward, eVGA, Asus and Abit. Don't get a Visiontek card because they have gone out of business, so theres zero warranty/support. Avoid brands like Chaintech and Pine.

I can vouch for Gainward's 4200 "Golden Sample" card. This thing is a dream come true for money concious gamers! I got one two weeks ago and it makes Unreal Tournament 2003 look like watching TV!

Mine is paired up with an Athlon XP 1800, MSI K7N420 Pro Motherboard, 512Mb PC2100 DDR, Sound Blaster Audigy, and an 80Gb 7200rpm Maxtor hard drive and I get just over 10,000 points on 3D Mark 2001 SE.

If it is I won't be playing it as I suspect it will be a 100 MB download or bigger.

I'm sure you could convince one of us gamers to download and burn it to a CD for you. Postage on a CD is next to nothing.

I hear ya! 28k dial-up user right here. Even a modem all-nighter wouldn't be enough.

Hey, guys. Doom 3 was illegally leak. I don't think the mods are gonna tolerate talking about it much.

Back on track, albatron has a wonderful card, the ti4600 turbo edition for just a little more than 150, it comes in at 185, but it can be overclocked past, the normal ti4600 settings because it uses 3.3ns memory. It's just an awesome card.
