Currently I am using a Nvidia riva TNT2 Ultra 32MB AGP card and need something with more grunt.
I can get a GeForce4 MX440 AGP for $88 AUD but I dont hear much good things about this card and I cant afford a GeForce Ti card. I look around and I cant find any GeForce3's ANYWHERE! Should I get the MX440 or save for half a year for a Ti 4x00? Does anyone own a MX440 card at all? Thanks. |

Your other alternative would be An ATI 7500 or 8500. They are both nice cards, and the prices are good on them.....

www.newegg.com has a GAINWARD/CARDEXPERT GeForce 3 Ti200 64MB (NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200 GPU), Power Pack Golden Sample, ( 4ns. 64MB DDR. ). TV-Out. for $90 bucks. That's a pretty good deal for a great card!

I agree with Tiretool totally. I have the Gainward GeForce 3 Ti200 128MB (which you can get from Newegg for another $15) in my girlfriend's computer and I have had great performance from it.

Australian prices are hair raising. I mean $400.00 for a Ti 4200?
Given what my search turned up $88.00 for an MX440 makes you one very good shopper( though I'm wondering, the prices close to that were all for GeForce 2 MX cards ). I hope you checked the reseller rating for whatever store that is carefully. I would have suggested you switch to ATI but then I saw the price for the 8500. The card will be an improvement over what you have now. The reason it gets dumped on in the states is because we do have many better choices, at nothing like your prices, and because NVidia was seen as less then honest about the card. In your situation however, it's actually a good deal. HTH |

Do you live in Australia? If so, you'll have to find some sites that will ship internationally because the links posted above for www.newegg.com won't help you. Newegg only ships in the US.

The short answer is only if you own 9700 pro and an AGP8X board that is not intel.
I also note that the companies who did this, not a shining moment for ASUS, scrambled to fix this as did ATI who replaced a lot of rev 1 boards. So no, not any more. I'd still wait a little longer to get an AGP8X board but now that the NVidia ones are out I'd really consider them for an upgrade. I can't swing the cash for a 9700pro but I will be able to afford the 9500 pro which I'll be putting into my kt133A chipset board. I don't know if it'll need a bios flash or not ( I sure hope not ) but I'm expecting the card to work. Oh, ATI seems to have gotten it together with the drivers so that the, previously justified, warning is no longer true. I have a Radeon 32ddr which has caused no problems except for the ones I made. |

Have you checked out ebay?? There are a lot of reputable sellers on ebay beleive it or not (I am one of them). Most sellers will also ship international. Just do a search for the GF3 cards or whatever else your considering and see what turns up. You never know, you just might stumble upon a deal.

That's the best idea yet.
If he makes sure to check out the sellers rating before bidding he could get a really good deal. I think there is an e-bay australia so he might not have to pay to have the card shipped to the other side of the world. |

Also, if you by some chance get Burned (which most likely won't happen), you can report it to ebay, go through the process, and ebay will reimburse you up to $175. Just keep all emails/reciepts untill the sale is completed.

Yea, I am from Australia (W.A)
The store that I can get the MX440 for $88 is a great store, I even got my 80GiG Seagate Barracuda II for under $200 AUD there. Well I would have to setup a debit bard before I try E-bay.com.au as I dont trust even myself with my credit card :-) Thanks for you info ppl, very much welcome.
