Usually is a little program you run from a boot disk, you should be able to get it and instructions from the manufacturers web site. I don't think it will enhance the card enough to be capable of 4x, if it isn't capable now, because I could be wrong but I believe that is more a function of the chipset on your vid card. I think you will actually have to buy newer vid card to get 4X capabilities.

HI
I just purchased a new vid card for the system I am building. Anyway from the looks of it you should be able to find all the info you need on the manufacturers web site. Once you find the info you need print the instructions out and follow exactly. When I am going to update the bios on my new card, and I would guess with bios on a lot of cards, if I don't follow the steps exactly I could 'fry' the bios and make the card unusable. Good luck cat

Hi FantasySoul,
What Windows version are you running? Before even thinking about flashing anything, make sure AGP 4x is enabled in the BIOS. Also, when installing the Via 4in1 mobo drivers, if you do not install the AGP driver in "Turbo" mode, then the AGP will default to 1x. So install the latest Via 4in1s and make sure the AGP driver is installed in Turbo mode. HTH |

Think we are talking about two different things here, I was refering to flash updating the bios of the vid card itself! I actually have during the process of flashing vid card, had it fail cause I was using wrong file or version, and was actually able to get that vid card back to functional state reflashing it blindly and it worked, but if you mess up on your MOBO bios you will have a much harder time if you can get it back at all.

You have me a little confused, ktkendall... It appears that you've already flashed it but it didn't take. Yes, you need the proper firmware software and flasher, and you flash it pretty much like you do the BIOS.
But, as mike breck alludes to (right word?), what exactly are you trying to do?? Some more details would be helpful.... TwoRails |

I'm not trying to do anything, just reminiscing that I have had totally nonfunctional vid card cause of bad bios flash of the vid card bios and was able to recover it by flashing again with correct file version blindly (with no display) NVIDIA TNT2.
I actuallly think I misunderstood you FantasySoul in that you are actually wanting to flash update your MOBO bios but I still don't think you can software update a board to get AGP4x cause it is still a function of chipset, specifically the speed that the AGP bus runs at and I believe that is pretty much determined by the available hardware on the board. |
