Looking for a new video card.

All I really play is cs, dod, hl, q3 and some racing games.

I have a visiontek Gforce2 mx400 and I want some thing better now that my new build has 4x agp.

I dont need the best thing out, I was thinking of picking from the GF4mx and ti family but dont want to spend $200.

And another thing.. I want an americna company. Some one told me evga was but do I have more to select from?

how are these cards? http://www.bfgtech.com/new_products_home.html

Thanks for all your help!

You could grab an ATI Radeon 8500LE 128 megs for around 100 bucks on newegg if I remember properly. However, don't get a G4 MX card, poor quality.

Get the 8500 over the 9000, the 8500 performs better. And as I said, avoid the GeForce 4 MX cards.

Hi

ATI is headquartered in Canada... they have offices all over the globe... can't figure out where the cards are actually made though... Still a good card, like Fuze says...

Have fun

ATIs OEM manufacturers all have offices all over the world although the majority of video cards are made overseas. Sapphiretech is a great maker of Radeons. Stay away from G$MX cards, very poor performance. If you cant save up for a Ti, go with a Radeon.

ATIs drivers run just fine. I know a few people with Radeons, that have no problems.

Just out of curiousity why must the card be made in the USA. As long as the brand is good, like Asus, Abit, ATI, MSI, eVGA, even if the card is made overseas, they are of great quality.

What is your budget exactly? Up to 100 or anything under $200. For 100 you best bet is either the Radeon8500 (not the le) with 64megs for $92 or an EVGA Geforce 4 Ti4200 with 64megs for $117.

If you can save up to $150 you can pick up a G4 Ti4200 with 128megs. This is will be a huge improvement over that Gf2 you have now and will not need to be upgraded for awhile.

ATis have better picture quality, but nVidias are faster. You make the call.

SapphireTech is one of the best manufacturers of Radeons. The 8500 on this page is $92. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...tby=14&order=1 The one Im looking at is the "ATI RADEON 8500 64MB DDR AGP BULK ,POWER by ATI" at the bottom of the page.

The 9000s arent as good as the 8500. They dont perform as well as the 8500 will.

It wouldn't matter what brand of nVidia card you buy. All of nVidia's graphics cores are manufactured by a company in Tawain I believe.

Probably not a reseller, but AFAIK all electronic components are assembled in Asia.

Bang for the buck, the G4 Ti4200 can't be beat. Around 160.00 delivered to your door, http://www.googlegear.com/
I have built 10-12 systems with googlegear products. Never a problem, ever. Prices can't be beat in retail in stores either. Or, wait and see what FX will soon offer us!!

I know that EVGA is an American corporation, but not sure if their factory is in the USA.
