handling problems
I'm thinking of getting a new latop. I really want a new apple powerbook, with 1Ghz processor, 1 GB SDRAM, and a radeon 9000 graphics chipset(64MB). I'm curious, how would this computer handle a graphics intensive game, Eg-Warcraft III, soldier of fortune 2

If I were you I would stick with the existing Laptop for another six months. Some of the stuff that will be introduced in the first half of 2003 is going to greatly increase the performance of them.

I second what morris says. There has never been a more exciting time to be into computers.

This is sort of on the subject.
My wife can get a IBM Stinkpad for 900 bucks. But I was wondering something: Alienware is offering laptops for 3k. Now I know that's "a lot" of money; but being their products are not preproitory, I am thinking that 3 years from now, assuming the standard has not changed, one would be able to completely upgrade their laptop components. But then I am think if someone like my wife can get one for 900, it would still be cheaper to get a new one in 3 years or more. What do you guys think?

Iman - with very few exceptions, laptops have never been and never will be upgradeable, except for ram and hard drive.

That's what I always thought. But if they can make these laptops full customized to what you want; I would think "Alienware" can upgrade them in X amount of years.
I know this does not hold true for Toshiba, IBM, CPQ, HP, etc... |

Sure you can upgrade them - with a total mainboard swap. Cost you as much as a new machine.
